Sound bar for 95 Wrangler

Hi Guys. I'm a new poster here (obviously). I've been through all the big threads, and guys like Tim and Steve are my heroes

So first, I want to apologize for an incredible lacking in pics. I was working by myself, and trying to get as much done as possible before the rain came.

First, a shot of the vehicle in question from when I picked it up a month ago:

I was also replacing the front speakers, which, on this model, requires folding down the front window :

All these screws and bolts...

...Just to put in some new 4x6's

Anyway, on to the sound bar... I first cut out a few mounting rings from some scrap plywood, and then gorilla glued them together (1 ring to mount speaker, 1 ring to flush around speaker grill). you'll notice my incredibly high tech clamping system:

Once the rings were all made, I stacked them all on top of each other and really clamped them tight:

The mirror you see in the background a pic or two back was used to make the main flat part of the piece. It is 6 layers of 1.5oz chopmat. Zero bubbles and stiff as all hell. Unfortunately, the mirror wasn't long enough to strech all the way across, so I had to extend it. I cut up some scraps I had from my first test of the mirror, and then glassed them together:

Once the resin cured, I flipped it over to add in the curved pieces that will rest on the roll bars. I made them by molding around a 4" PVC pipe. They're 6 layers, and incredibly strong. When I trimmed them, the 2" wide scrap section was enough to hold my weight! I spray glued them in place, then clamped with some locking pliers:

I drilled holes and scuffed up all the parts with 36grit to provide a good bond between the pieces (the bubbles are glue, not in the fg):

I was able to get them glassed together, but my phone died, and then it started raining, so I packed up. I'l be finishing the glassing today, and hopefully will have time to mount the rings and stretch some fabric! I'll post up more pics tomorrow.

Wht? All you need is to hang upside down with your feet on the headrest and with a 10mm socket in hand you can undo the nuts by hand. Just have to spend 20 minutes cutting up you hand and getting a head rush. We used to charge a little extra but after the first 5 or so it's pretty easy.

Which is what I WOULD have done, if the slackers that put in the first set of Alpines hadn't used SPEED CLIPS instead of just replacing the factory nuts! I was PISSED. Not only that, they had rusted in place. I was not a happy camper when I reached up to unscrew them and almost slit my finger

Don't ya love it? Go to grab the new speakers and realize you're smearing blood all over the place.

Nice start, always interesting to see how people install systems into a vehicle that people can reach in and steal out of.

they'll have to work a little harder than "reach in and steal stuff"... The speakers are being secured with Torx bolts, and i'm working on the locking system for the bar itself. The radio is being installed in a Tuffy locking center console, and I'm builing a parcel shelf in the rear over the sub that bolts down with two large factory Torx on each side. The parcel shelf will likely be 8-10 layers thick... so they can have fun trying to break it.

I want everything to be installed in such a way that I feel comfortable leaving the car parked with the top off.
