Project Evo X

Hey guys,
So I haven't been posting anything on here yet, as I haven't really done anything fiberglass yet (except for coating a speaker baffle in resin) but I'll be starting the fiberglass portion of it soon.

Doing this as a shop demo build, but it's for a good friend of mine that's in Afgahnistan (Dirka DirkaVille).

We're doing an Alpine W900 with all the goodies, sound deadening everything then adding an Arc Audio Flarline 12 with an Arc Audio 1000.1 mono amp, Arc Audio's 6000 components up front and their XXD's in the rear being pushed by an Arc Audio 300.4.
ALso going in is an Escort 9500ci hidden radar system, iPod, Sat Radio, and backup cameras.

So far I've got him some new rims on it, finished up the sound deadening and installed the rear speakers.....on to the fiberglass and routing ALL those wires.

I'm posting my blog link, as that's where you'll find everything little, but I'll try and upload fiberglass pics here.

Cheers

Finally got some work done on the Evo last night...though it wasn't much. had to go do an emergency install for a guy that couldn't figure out his Infinity system in his jeep.

Got 2 layers of 1.5 oz mat down....ready for some 3 oz.

Also, tapped off the doors and had them ready...so I thought, until I ran out of tape...so tomorrow I'll have more.

Went and got some goodies at the hardware store:
Tape, wooden dowels, and metal rods.

This is my first tirewell build, but I feel like I've done tons of them due to this site....so thanks guys!

2 layers of 3 oz mat and 3 metal rods covered in 3 oz mat

Got the doors taped up, marked up, and put a layer of 3 oz on those as well....now while these are all drying, I'll be on to the next step.

Threw on 2 layers of fiberglass mat last night.....my parents brought me up a box of crap for their house when I lived there back in high school. Dug deep and found my very first roll of fiberglass mat I ever used....pretty cool....taught myself fiberglass using this roll...might as well make it count!

Got everything pulled apart, and trimmed up.
ready to start shaping the end product.

Also, started on the beauty panel that will hide the battery and washer fluid tank....i'll have to cut it in half to get it out, but that was the plan anyways....just didnt want to have to do it IN the trunk...but once i started glassing...I realized this..oh well!

Got lots done today....did a little work, watched football, did some more, watched some more.

Got the beauty panels popped out, glassed the back of those and added some more glass to the sides of the wheel well mold. Wired up the DVD player, Bluetooth, TR7 and Sat radio modules. Fabricated a stock replacement panel for the stock Sirius Tuner, so that bolted away and in the factory location. Tomorrow will be some wood work and finishing up the DVD player mounting.

Cheers!!

AIght....so I've been pretty busy with other projects....but I HAVE to get back on this guy.....only 9 more days left!!! AHHHH

So I get the main construction built on the woofer box, soaked some fleece (inside and out), 1 layer of glass on the inside and have 4 layers on right now on the exterior....prolly 4 more and we'll be good to go....so the opening on the back side will be for a plexi window, so you can see the magnet, but you'll only be able to see it from the rear seat center arm rest hole....pretty cool I thought....

I know some of you are anti-volcano, but the owner thought of this design, and I thought it was pretty cool for him to think of it...so I'm going with it....it's different....so ya.

That lighter line below the speaker ring was were the glass kicked right after I put the heater on it, and it tweaked the frame.....had to cut it out and re-level it...LAME...oh well...we're good now.

Here you can see the 'tombstone' for the plexi window

Those aren't air bubbles on the base, that's filler to help contour the glass
