Homemade Car Ramps

My car is too low for any jacks to get under it so I always had to drive up on wood blocks and spend half an hour trying to get a jack under so...

I built some ramps with metal at a nice gradual incline. There will be a box with a dip in it at the end for the tire so we can pull the ramp out of the way. The box kind of acts like a jack stand so heres the ramp.

This is the ramp upside down with the diamond plate on the ground.

I welded all the crossbars on with a 6011 electrode and used wirefeed or MIG for the underneath the diamond plate.

Photos will be coming of boxes and ramps will be painted...

Wow, by the looks of those, you could drive a forklift up those ramps. Great welding though.

I primered one of the ramps today getting it ready for chrome paint.
I also took pictures of the stands at the end that the wheel will sit in.
We used wire feed for the diamond plate on the stands also.

The ramps side by side.

The boxes side by side.

ACTION SHOT!!

Painted the top chrome...

I will be painting the parts not taped black. It is already chrome beneath the tape. Of course i'm not painting the top of the ramp black but I am thinking of doing a logo or something fun on top - (who says you can't have fun in school!!). lol

We could make you one, LOL. (gives us something to do in class - haha)

Actually we might get hired to make some ramps for a trucking company. They pay pretty big!!

Those are nice. I have the same issue with getting jacks under my Honda.

I cut and layed on the vinyls the other day so we can spray chrome over top.

On the bottom ramp is the actual chrome that shows reflections and on the top ramp is chrome from the hardware store that actually shows up white.
They no longer carry the good stuff so I have to order it online.
