Fuel filler relocation

I am moving my filler tube into my door jamb so I can shave the gas door. I'll just let the pictures do the talking.

I prepped the gas door to be welded as well

Anyone have any ideas on how to bend this filler tube. I heated it today with my oxy-acet tortch and couldn't get it to bend. I should be able to just bend it to it's new location so I won't have to cut and weld it.

Go to the exhaust pipe section at the auto parts store and make a new tube.
You can also use rubber tubing.

Thanks. Never even thought about just using all rubber tubing. I'll just keep the filler assembly.

the rubber filler hose will work as long as it's only a gradual bend you need. the tubing should should bend once heated, but prolly needs to be annealed first. just heat it to a reddish-orange and let air cool. once it's air cooled you can heat it to a orange-yellow and it should bend for you. filling the tube with clean sand (blasting or playground sand)will help in two ways. it will hold alot of heat and also prevent the tube from collapsing...

why type of tip do you have for your torch?

I'd use the marine fuel hose - holds up really well.

Thanks for the advice on the sand. I've got a 50 pound bag for my blaster.
I have a single hole welding tip and also the cutting tip with 6 holes and paddle to give the extra blow.

Luckily I live on Lake Michigan so we have a few marine shops around. If I can't bend it properly or it ends up short, I'll go the tubing route.

i had to make custom radiator hoses to avoid components and will do the same for my relocated filler. i used the same size ss tubing bends, cut and fit to get close to my target. then i connect with rubber hose. we do the same for turbo intercooler tubing/plumbing.

nice shave job. funny thing, you shaved the gas door to be different. i added a gas door to be different.
