RV system

I'm putting a pretty sweet little setup in a brand new little cheapo travel trailer.

Hybrid Imagines in the ceiling, JL Marine speakers outside, DD1508 in a little hidden box, all powered by a Arc Audio KS900.6.

The only fabrication was the new housing for the headunit and the sub box. I have used this mold before. I just wanted to show how easy it was to make it 'slightly custom'

I sprayed the mold with a couple layers of silicone spray release -not as good as wax and PVA, but takes a fraction of the time. I brushed on a thick layer of poly primer instead of gelcoat, waited about 30 mins, then slammed 3 layers of 1.5 oz glass with black dye and buttloads of 'speed cure' (which includes the wax additive). Ready to pop in 45 mins.

I cut the glass with a knife after a few minutes when it's in the 'rubbery' stage. way easier than grinding it all off.

I epoxied an air fitting into the mold. just dial up the pressure.... POP.

As you can see, the poly primer wasn't dry... but it was close enough. You'll also see the leading corner didn't have the glass all the way down into it.... so I had to fill it.

I CA'd the trim piece from a newer body style Ford DD kit in there, then filled up around it with my finger.

Had all of 5 minutes of sanding in this puppy. I shot it with rattle can bedliner. I'll get the finished pics up tomorrow. They're on my camera.

The old

The new

JL's outside

The speakers out there were substantially shallower, so I cut into the interior wall and boxed it in. The boxes were just wrapped in black carpet.

DD1508 in a ported box

Plain Jane grille

Arc amp installed

Deck Box. There is a sirius radio, ipod cord, aux in, and video out for a TV all in the cabinet above. I did NOT want to run the wires on the surface like this, but the owner insisted that he didn't want me snaking wires through the wall which could 'mess up the insulation'..... So I wired it like a boat. Crappy looking system, I know, but it has nice gear that sounds great! The 8" sub really bumps when you crank it, and the hybrids are crystal clear.

That should sound better. Those $4 OE speakers really don't do much, do they?

BTW, is that a Springdale you installed it in? Kinda looks like it.

I need to find a used head unit like this for a setup in my shop. I have a couple full-power Saab seats I'm making in to "man cave" seating. Making a hot/cold cup holder (I think) console between them, built in speakers, and some LED lighting. As this is just an experiment, I'm gonna start looking fro equipment that some guys have "outgrown", or is somewhat outdated (but, not ready for the Smithsonian), or "last season".

During the winter, the heated seats with heated cup holders will be nice out in the shop.

I wish I had some pictures of the channels that my gf's dad used to run some ceiling fans in a couple of rooms in our house. It's a plastic channel with that snap into plastic junctions (90 degree, T and + shape). It looks alot better than split loom (in an application like trailers and RV's.)

I think you mean Wiremold. This customer didn't even want me to look into it... Just said to run it the easiest way. I think it looks like crap, but he was satisfied.
